Three Tips To Simplify Your Spring Skincare

With the clocks soon changing it feels like Spring is finally on it’s way. It’s been a long, long Winter and personally I am ready for warmer days and brighter nights. In terms of my skincare I’ve really paired things back lately and find sticking to a simple routine using natural products has my skin glowing more than ever before. See below for a few tips that are really working for me as well as minimising the amount of products I use:

Cultivate a Simple Routine..

Whilst there’s something lovely about taking a bit of time at the weekend to put on a facemask, I find consistency is far more important. Like everyone I imagine that I have the patience to spend far longer than I actually can, or being honest, want to, taking care of my skin day-to-day. If I’m near a deadline or just exhausted a quick cleanse and applying some facial oil all in the space of three minutes is all I can manage. What I do know is simple steps daily are far more effective than an occasional deep cleanse. I’m currently loving the Codex Wash Off Cleansing Oil which removes all my make up at nighttime. In the morning I use the Exfoliating wash in the shower. It really wakes up my skin and is super quick to use. I follow with the Skin Superfood in the daytime. If I want some extra glow I mix it with the Facial Oil which works so well under make up.

Declutter and Donate What You Don’t Use

I am drawn in by brand values and ethics and beautiful packaging, but the truth is that there are plenty of products I own that don’t work for me or I just don’t find myself using. Having an occasional edit and clearout of your beauty cabinet (and make up bag) is such a useful thing to do. I’ve become good at passing on products to friends and family but still need to remind myself to do this periodically or else the clutter pile builds up. Charity shops will also accept unopened products and knowing they are always needed and will be hugely appreciated encourages me not to hold onto something I am not using.

Get to Know Your Skin Again and Go Back To Basics

The changing of the seasons present changes in your skin tone also. I find my skin gets extra dehydrated after a long period of sleeping with the windows closed, central heating on and cold weather. To combat this I up my water intake, reduce coffee and ensure I am exfoliating regularly so as my products can be effectively absorbed. Currently I am dry skin brushing daily. This literally takes two minutes and I do it before getting in the shower and it makes such a difference to my skin. Another thing I have been using in the shower is the Codex Cleansing Soap with exfoliating gloves. They are a zero waste product as all the wrapping degrades. There are four blends but currently I am loving the Cleansing one which is enriched with Bamboo charcoal and combined with coniferous essential oils help purify and protect skin.

Finishing my shower with a blast of cold water is super reviving also!
