Homemade Tahini and Chocolate Bars

Ingredients

Base
  • 120g ground almonds
  • 40g maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Caramel Layer
  • 70g tahini
  • 40g maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp salt (if using unsalted nut/seed butter)
Chocolate Coating
  • 170g 70% chocolate
  • 30g coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Add the base ingredients to a small bowl and mix until a sticky dough forms. if the dough is too dry, add more sweetener. if it’s too wet, add more almond flour.
  2. Line an 8x5 loaf pan with parchment paper and spray with Frontier Foods vegetable spray. Add the dough to bottom of the pan and press it down until it covers the entire bottom of the pan.
  3. Bake at 180°C for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown, then set aside to cool.
  4. Mix together the caramel by combining all ingredients together over a low heat.
  5. Once the crust has cooled, spread the caramel over the crust and then place the dessert in the freezer to harden.
  6. Once hardened, remove from the freezer & place the dessert on a cutting board and slice into 6-8bars.
  7. Melt together the chocolate and coconut oil and coat each bar in the melted chocolate then place on a tray lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with sea salt.
  8. Store in the fridge or freezer.
