Frontier Foods Tahini and Dark Chocolate Squares*

These Tahini and Dark Chocolate Squares are so delicious. There are a few steps in making the layers but they freeze so well so my advice would be to double the recipe when you make them so you’ve loads to enjoy. Vegan treats can be very expensive to buy so personally l prefer to make my own to enjoy as an after-dinner treat or if a friend pops over for a coffee. I hope you love them as much as I do.

Base

  • 180g oats

  • 90g desiccated coconut

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

  • 110ml maple syrup

  • 1 tablespoons melted coconut oil.

Tahini Layer

  • 120g Frontier Foods Tahini

  • 40g melted coconut oil

  • 100g pitted dates

  • 200 g dark chocolate

  • Sea salt and 2 teaspoons sesame seeds

Base
Process all base ingredients until combined and press into a 9 x 9 tray and place in the freezer to set

Blend the dates until broken down before adding the tahini and coconut oil to form a thick creamy filling.

Pour on top of the base. Add a pinch of salt and a sprinkle a teaspoon of sesame seeds.

Return to the freezer.

Melt your chocolate in a Bain Marie and pour over the tahini layer.

It helps the chocolate to set if this layer is really cold.

Add a final sprinkle of seasalt and sesame seeds.

Return to the fridge or freezer until the chocolate is set.

To cut these into squares it helps to dip your knife into boiling water so it glides through the chocolate.
